As a Veteran there are many services available that you may not know about. In Connecticut there is a program called the Veterans Directed Care Program ( VDC). This program is set up to give the Veteran access to self direct their homecare needs. This program gives Veterans the help that is needed while staying in the comfort of their own home with the caregiver of their choice. To find out if you are eligible you can call the State of Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Advocacy and Assistance at 860-616-3683.

Another program offered by the Department of Veteran Affairs is called  Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers. With this program Veterans can assign a family member as a caregiver with two back up caregivers to help with personal care assistance and daily living activities.  To be eligible for this program you need to be disabled 70% or more and need personal care assistance.

There are many more programs available to help Veterans in their time of need and resources available. For more information or to see what you may be eligible for request more information from  your local Veterans Affairs Office. Links posted below are for programs available listed above.
