Charter Oak Home Care Celebrates 40th Anniversary

The Schoenly's 40th Anniversary COHC

It is hard to believe that in September Charter Oak Home Care (COHC) celebrated 40 years of service to seniors in Connecticut.  Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate 40 years of God’s faithfulness in sustaining Charter Oak Home Care.  From our founding in 1985 our commitment to serve older adults by helping them remain in the comfort and security of home has remained the same.  For our celebratory party, we were joined by caregivers and office team members old and new as well as members of the community and state representatives.

During the event, founders Newt and Barbara shared about their experience starting Charter Oak Home Care four decades ago and how working together as a couple was so important in the beginning.  Current President Conant also shared what it means to him to carry on a family legacy and longtime caregiver Carol O recounted stories from her clients and why she feels called to caregiving and the difference COHC makes in clients’ lives.  Newt Schoenly presented retired office manager of 35+ years Demy McGraine with the first ever Founder’s Award for her service to the company.  Then State Reps Jay Case, Joe Canino, Sen Paul Honig and mayoral candidates Steven Ivain and Molly Spino all spoke.  The office team did a great job decorating the office and coordinating a great surprise video for the Schoenly family below.  Overall it was wonderful seeing the community rally around our company and a much greater cause of making sure home is possible for seniors.
